Fiber-Laser Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and innovative Fiber-Laser Engineer to design, develop, and characterize advanced fiber-laser systems for quantum applications. This role also involves supporting product manufacturing and ensuring the reliability and performance of laser systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop low-noise, high-power fiber-laser systems for quantum applications.
- Perform laser failure analysis and implement improvements to enhance system reliability.
- Select and evaluate optical fiber components to ensure optimal performance and quality.
- Conduct laser characterization and actively contribute to product assembly.
- Generate comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, test plans, analysis reports, operational procedures, and safety guidelines.
- Provide technical guidance to technicians and oversee their work as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in fiber-laser engineering, including the design, development, and validation of fiber-laser systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- Hands-on expertise with fiber optics, including Yb-doped, Er-doped, and Tm-doped gain fibers, fiber couplers, isolators, combiners, and filters.
- Proficiency in using optical instrumentation, such as fiber splicers, fiber cleavers, optical spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, wavemeters, and beam profilers.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex engineering concepts. Excellent documentation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience.
- Experience working with free-space optics, such as mirrors, PBS cubes, and waveplates.
- Proficiency in numerical simulations for laser system design, including thermal management, gain efficiency, and ASE suppression.
- Knowledge of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, as well as Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, and microcontroller programming. Experience with nonlinear frequency conversion techniques.
