Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop low-noise, high-power fiber-laser systems for quantum applications.
  • Perform laser failure analysis and implement improvements to enhance system reliability.
  • Select and evaluate optical fiber components to ensure optimal performance and quality.
  • Conduct laser characterization and actively contribute to product assembly.
  • Generate comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, test plans, analysis reports, operational procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Provide technical guidance to technicians and oversee their work as needed.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in fiber-laser engineering, including the design, development, and validation of fiber-laser systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  • Hands-on expertise with fiber optics, including Yb-doped, Er-doped, and Tm-doped gain fibers, fiber couplers, isolators, combiners, and filters.
  • Proficiency in using optical instrumentation, such as fiber splicers, fiber cleavers, optical spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, wavemeters, and beam profilers.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex engineering concepts. Excellent documentation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Experience working with free-space optics, such as mirrors, PBS cubes, and waveplates.
  • Proficiency in numerical simulations for laser system design, including thermal management, gain efficiency, and ASE suppression.
  • Knowledge of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, as well as Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, and microcontroller programming. Experience with nonlinear frequency conversion techniques.
